Family Jiu Jitsu

Jiu Jitsu is an awesome activity to develop self confidence and fitness while learning valuable self-defense and anti-bullying techniques. We offer three Family Jiu Jitsu classes per week where our instructors will teach parents and their children together. Our goal is for Jiu Jitsu to become a natural part of the family lifestyle where adults and children can learn and experience the unique bond that is formed in our classes.

Children 10 years and older who have proven listening and behavioural skills may attend these lessons independently. At 13 students may transition to Adult Classes if approved by an instructor.

All new students will undergo a 5 class evaluation where a parent / responsible adult must be present and participating on the mat before being accepted as a member.

(Visit our schedule page for current class times.)

Kokoro’s experienced Jiu Jitsu instructors Steve Haydock & Sam Palmer will take the lead in these classes. Both have extensive coaching experience in all areas of fitness and across multiple sports and athletic disciplines.

“My daughter has been taking BJJ lessons for a year with Kokoro and absolutely LOVES it! She went from being not able to stand up for herself to a confident young lady. I cannot express how much BJJ has done for her self-esteem. The instructors are top notch and take their time really teaching proper techniques. I also love the team mentality of Kokoro and the other members. It’s a great place to learn BJJ and be part of a team.”

Sarah McCully, parent of a Kokoro Junior Jiu Jitsu student
